Stacey Dash's Romney Endorsement: Genuine Awareness or Trolling?

Stacey Dash is an actress who has been in the business for quite some time but who, quite frankly, isn’t registering on many people’s radar these days, when one considers the value and influence of celebrities in this current cult of personality.  The media hasn’t really reported anything noteworthy about her since she was unceremoniously fired from the cast of the VH1 series “Single Ladies" for reported difficult on-set behavior and before being ousted, yet again, from the cast of the film “Supremacy” for similar reasons.  And those of us who’ve caught on to how some celebrities go about garnering press for themselves- particularly when their star has faded- have come to realize that clamoring about this highly charged election year has become a popular way for some to elicit attention… good, bad, and ugly… because as the adage goes, ‘any publicity is good publicity’.

Election 2012: Stoplight Trolls

This election year seems to be bringing out the foolio in the everyday woman and man. Lately, my Facebook feed is cluttered with posts from people who have suddenly become low-rent political pundits (inaccurate propaganda and non-factual information be damned) or who yodel while beating themselves on the chest, because they've relegated themselves to  the fringe (their version of the 'cool kids table') and somehow think their threats not to vote somehow make them more shrewdly informed than everyone else who's opted to do so.
Politics will make some people's inner-jerk come roaring forth, after having been dormant for a spell... just waiting for the right opportunity to present itself in all its condescending and ignominious glory.
Election year 2012 is exposing some downright ugly and nasty behavior from unlikely perpetrators, and shattering the civility shared between acquaintances, lovers, and friends across social media platforms.

Intersection of Madness & Reality- Black People & Voter Suppression

I am exploring a new feature here on Coffee Rhetoric. As I still consider this a personal blog platform where I'm the sole writer and contributor and hadn't really entertained the prospect of featuring other work, this election year is stretched tighter than an aging Hollywood actress’s face. As aware as I fancy myself to be, I’m not well-versed in the art of writing about political issues… at least not with enough insight and snark as I insert into other ramblings. Writing about the social impact of popular-culture, the arts, film, etc. is more my speed. So I “stay in my lane” as it were, with little to no regret. However, one of my favorite online platforms features a lot of interesting content and is predominantly political in its approach. I can't think of a better blog to cross-posts from. Going forth, I will be re-publishing excerpts from Intersection of Madness & Reality’s more highly-charged posts on politics, political figures, and related content, on a frequent basis, starting now…

Voter Suppression: We Survived the Slave Ships; Those Voter ID Laws Ain’t Shit to Black Folks

By Rippa; Orig. published Sept. 22, 2012

Listen; in 2016 it could very well be nearly impossible to cast a vote if you’re African-American. Given the way things are playing out right now, Barack Obama winning in November could be the end of the black vote. If you think his 2008 victory pissed off the GOP, wait till you see what happens once he secures a second term. If you think they made it harder for “certain people” to vote this year, you ain’t seen nothing yet. White Supremacy will be so mad that Obama kicked its ass twice in a row that they’ll make it even harder for us to vote. Yep, Jim Crow will be back like a mu’fugga.

Mitt Romney Is Not Here For 47% of You

Mitt(ens) Romney aspires to be at the helm of the highest U.S. government office. However, I'm not sure how he can reconcile being the President of the United States with his disdain for the working-class and the poor and his perpetuation of class-division. Anything less than wealthy is nothing more than sheer, unadulterated laziness as far as he and his ilk are concerned.

Proving just how out-of-touch and misinformed he is, Romney was secretly recorded making several incendiary statements about Obama supporters while in the company of people of his fellow millionaires, during a [$50,000 a plate] fundraiser at the home of private-equity manager [and sex-party aficianado] Marc Leder, on May 17. One of the most notable comments he spewed...
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it, that… that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. These are people who pay no income tax.”
