What A Great Day!

So, I'm putting in time at this other museum that we manage (we meaning the executive powers that be at my full-time job), and it's so great. While we are all under the same umbrella, the respective museums are still 2 separate institutions, despite cross-promotional events and back and forth working with the staff. I would much rather be here full time. The staff is a lot smaller, it's relatively drama free, and I can WALK to work and home. It's right downtown, in the center of everything. The weather is great today... a little humid this morn' when I walked here, but nice now. I was poking around the Farmer's Market, just inside the square on this Museum's property and picked up a fresh, bountiful head of red tipped, romaine lettuce, four very long cucumbers, a beautiful red cactus and some other plant. I was so pissed, because while I was trying to entertain the weirdo who sold me the plants and his strange questions, I missed out on a WHOLE basket of fresh tomatoes! A whole basket for $3.00! I saw this woman walk off with the last of them. I am so disappointed. I love tomatoes and those would've lasted me for the next 2 weeks at least. Oh well, there's always next week, the market is here for most of the summer, so that's a plus. I picked up a Mango & Banana smoothie at the Tiki stand on the way back to work. tee hee. It's amazing what fresh fruits and veggies can do for you. Just today, one of my co-workers, the Director of Marketing from the managing museum where we both work, was up here. He had a mondo wrap and was tearin' it up. He asked me if I'd ever been to that particular wrap joint. I told him no, and that I rarely ever buy my lunch. I usually just make it and bring it from home. He commented that this is why my complexion was so pretty that I had a luminscent sheen to it. He also noted that constant take-out was bad for the skin, and that he needed to stop indulging in it so much. This sorta made my day. Glad to learn that I'm doing most of the right things, in terms of what I'm putting into my body. People mistake the size of one's jeans for one's overall health. It doesn't matter if you're a size 2 or a 12. Just because someone is lithe in frame, doesn't automatically make them in-shape or healthy. So, needless to say, I guess the old adage "you are what you eat" rings true... and I'm glad to learn that it shows. I love farmers' markets, by the way. The produce is a lot fresher, I feel good supporting these people who make their living this way, and I always feel as if I'm strolling the outside market place somewhere in Southern Italy or someplace like it. Everyone's strolling out and about on their lunch breaks or sitting out on nearby benches. I love it. I think I feel the desire for a transfer stirring within me. Well, I am about to go purchase some of the items on my impending purchases list. Stay tuned... and true...
