Sunday, Sunday

So, I'm at work (cold and bored) when I should be home languishing on this Sunday afternoon. All is quiet on the museum front, and I wish I were home reading or listening to music. I have been coming across some really great blogs! It's exciting to see that there is this community of creative like-minds belonging to African American bloggers (not that race matters in terms of blogging)- it's just that, I didn't realize there were so many of us on here blogging. Anyway, it's good to see... and read. I am stoked that Esthero's new cd "Wikked Lil Girls" will be out in June. If you don't know who Esthero is, rush out and buy "Breath From Another" ASAP. Her voice is ethereal and her sound is a soothing concoction of trip hop, acid jazz, and techno. Her musical style defies catergorization. If I had to pick a musical genre to place her in, I would say somewhere between Martina Topley-Bird and Morcheeba. In any event, I look forward to purchasing her latest project. Since I'm on the topic of music, I would also like to recommend the soundtrack to the movie, Cidade de Deus-(City of God). I am a huge fan of Brazilian music and Bossa Nova. This features an intoxicating blend of Samba, brazilian jazz, 70's funk all rolled into one. I love it, it's my favorite soundtrack to one of my favorite movies. No caminho do bem and the remix of Batucada are two of my favorite tracks! It's hard to sit still when I play this CD, particularly when I'm listening to it on the bus, enroute to work. It's a struggle not to sing aloud and dance, but then I'd hate to concern the rest of the bus patrons, so I usually just sit still like a good passenger. The soothing properties of music is amazing. I don't know what I'd do without it. When I come home after a bad day, post-work, one of the first things I do is turn on my CD player. When I'm out and about, I usually have a pair of headphones strapped to my head. Music saves, man. Anyway, that's that, this is this, and we are we. Keep blogging.
